Assabet Valley Vocational HS Awarded $400K For Specialized Programs
Both the school's metal fabrication and plumbing programs enroll only 20 students each year.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School was awarded a significant grant to support two of its specialized programs.
The school announced on Wednesday that it received a $400,000 Skills Capital grant from the Healey-Driscoll administration to support its metal fabrication/welding and plumbing programs, which each enroll only 20 students per year.
Assabet Valley was one of 66 educational institutions in the state to receive funding. The high school will use the money to purchase new equipment for both programs, advancing the curriculum and staying with the latest industry technologies, according to a news release.

For the metal fabrication program, the school will purchase the Vectis Welding Collaborative Robot (Cobot). This machine will introduce students to automated welding systems used in modern settings. And for the plumbing program, the school will purchase various press-fitting tools.
“We always want the best for our students,” said Principal Patrick O’Rourke. “Not only does this provide a chance for them to achieve their academic goals, but an opportunity for them to grow into their desired careers.”
