MARLBOROUGH, MA — State and federal authorities charged seven Springfield-area men Wednesday as part of a bust of a burglary crew accused of stealing hundreds of catalytic converters across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The theft ring left almost no corner of the state untouched. Authorities detailed where and when the thieves lifted the pricey exhaust part — describing the thieves as like a NASCAR pit crew in their precision.

The seven men, who police said stole more than 470 car parts worth at least $2 million in the two states over the past two years, were arrested on Wednesday morning. Some of the accused thieves also targeted automatic teller machines and jewelry stores, according to officials.
