Don't Be Alarmed: CDC Going Door-To-Door In Middlesex County For Health Survey

Centers for Disease Control employees will at doors across Middlesex County this summer for the National Health and Nutrition Examination.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Don't be alarmed if someone from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention knocks on your door this summer.

Police departments across Middlesex County are letting residents know that survey workers will be knocking on doors across the county between May 30 and Aug. 26 as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

But the chance you'll be part of the survey is pretty low: only about 935 households in Middlesex County will get a visit this summer, according to local police.

"Interviewers will be knocking on doors of randomly pre-selected households throughout the county to conduct a brief survey. This is a legitimate federally funded survey and interviewers will always carry official CDC identification," Marlborough police said this week.

The CDC has been conducting the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey since the 1960s. Each year, the agency polls about 5,000 U.S. residents in counties across the nation. Worcester County participated in the survey last summer.
