Class of 2013 Cheers for Bakr at Graduation
The Marlborough Class of 2013 cheered and chanted for Marlborough High School Assistant Principal Adam Bakr moments before graduating Sunday.
Among the many accomplishments of the class of 2013, working to bring Marlborough High School Assistant Principal Adam Bakr back was the one that brought cheers and chants from the graduating class of 2013 Sunday.
"We brought Bakr back," said Selena Giroux, president of the class of 2013, before the crowd erupted into applause. "If it wasn't for all of our effort we wouldn't be honored with his precense here today."
Bakr's firing sparked a controversy that eventually led to the departure of former Superintendent Anthony Pope, was reinstated to his position last August. Bakr was suspended by Pope, a move that prompted MHS students to rally in support of his return.
