Drive For Marlborough Community Cupboard Marks 'Catholic Sisters Week'

MARLBOROUGH, MA — An week of community service performed by Catholic women will have an impact in Marlborough this week.

The Sisters of St. Anne congregation in Marlborough will mark "Catholic Sisters Week" — which runs March 8 to 14 — by hosting a food drive this weekend to benefit the Marlborough Community Cupboard.

The drive-up event will run Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alliance Health Center, 720 Boston Post Road East.

The Marlborough Community Cupboard, operated by the United Way of Tri-County, accepts a range of food and household items, including nonperishable canned goods, baking supplies, snacks, condiments and baby items like diapers.

Catholic Sisters Week was created to allow religious women to perform community service projects, and call attention to the stories of religious women, according to the nonprofit Communicators for Women Religious.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations.
