I-495 Lanes Will Be Closed For Hours After Serious Rollover Crash

A box truck rolled over the in the northbound lanes around 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to MassDOT.

BERLIN, MA — Two northbound lanes of I-495 in Berlin will remain closed until close to 5 p.m. Wednesday following a serious crash this afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., MassDOT reported that a box truck had rolled over just north of the Marlborough line near the Route 62 exit. The crash was serious enough that a helicopter responded to transport a person to a local hospital.

The cleanup following the crash will keep the left and center I-495 lanes closed for about two hours this afternoon, MassDOT said just after 2:30 p.m.

"The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing temporary lane closures are currently in place on I-495 northbound at mile marker 67.3 in Berlin. The left and center lane are currently closed as crews work to clean up debris from a rollover crash," the agency said.

Drivers are being urged to use caution and proceed slowly through the area.
