Islamic School In Marlborough Gets State Funding To Protect From Extremist Violence
One-time federal funds were granted to 25 faith-based organizations.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — An Islamic high school in Marlborough, Ar-Raheem Academy, recieved state funding to help strengthen against potential terrorist or other extremist attacks, the state said.
The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced on Tuesday that it would award $2.6 million in federal funding to 25 nonprofits in the state, according to a news release. The grants will help organizations, like Ar-Raheem Academy, to strengthen their security and safety.
Ar-Raheem Academy was awarded a one-time grant totaling $200,000. The funds were awarded after a rise in bias-motivated crimes, according to the state.

“Faith-based institutions are central to community life. Everyone has the right to be safe as they gather, pray and seek comfort in their faith,” said Governor Maura Healey. “These funds will help strengthen the security of these institutions and safeguard those they serve.”
