WAYLAND, MA — A new event space, cafe and lifestyle store is coming to Wayland next summer.

The land, which is the former Whole Foods Plaza on Boston Post Road, will feature more than 8,700 square feet of indoor space and can accommodate up to 178 guests for weddings and 250 for corporate events. The space will also include Terrain Cafe and Terrain's garden, home, and outdoor lifestyle brand.

"The event business started 13 years ago, and I really think that elongates the story and the life cycle for our customer even more," said Brianna Alcorn, Director of Sales and Marketing at Terrain. "It becomes a place where they get to celebrate some of life's most special moments."

The location in Wayland will be Terrain's fifth event space, with others in Pennsylvania.

Alcorn told Patch she thinks the new space will be a great addition to the Greater Boston community, serving as an escape and oasis only 20 minutes outside of the city.

When looking for spaces, Alcorn said Terrain looks for properties with density, transportation, hotels, and florists.

"One of the best things about Terrain is how we can reimagine something," Alcorn told Patch. "It's being purposeful with the building that was sitting there empty, and from an environmental standpoint, for us to be able to reuse something."

Terrain is expected to begin its hiring process after the holidays. Alcorn told Patch that there will be many job opportunities.
