Letter to the Editor - Marlborough Patch - Charlene Arsenault

To the Editor:

As a liberal, college-educated, tax-paying Massachusetts resident, I am appalled by the ongoing erosion of support for middle- and working-class Americans. I’ve worked for over 30 years, played by the rules, paid my taxes, and pursued every opportunity to stay afloat. And yet—like so many—I'm living paycheck to paycheck, watching leaders make decisions that gut the programs and protections people like me rely on.

What’s most upsetting is the blatant cruelty and narcissism driving today’s political climate. Policies that strip away basic resources from families, seniors, and the poor while cutting taxes for billionaires aren’t just shortsighted—they’re immoral.

I’m not writing out of partisanship. I’m writing out of heartbreak. We deserve a government that invests in its people, not one that punishes them for struggling.

It’s time for voters, especially in communities like Hudson and Marlborough, to demand better. Our voices matter—even when those in power refuse to listen.
