Man Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion, Ran Vape Shop In Marlborough

A Hopkinton man pleaded guilty to three counts of tax evasion, according to the Middlesex District Attorney.

MARLBOROUGH, MA - A man who owned a vape shop in Marlborough pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted tax evasion, according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney.

Ashraf Youssef, 62, of Hopkinton ran AAA Smoke & Vape Shop in Marlborough from 2020 to 2022, and during those years he purchased vapes from four different distributors outside the Commonwealth.

Those invoices stated Youssef was responsible for paying the excise tax on those products, but over the three years he did pay what was owed.

The total excise tax Youssef failed to pay is over $467,000. He was sentenced to one year in the House of Correction, six months to serve and five years probation.
