Wayland Town Center Sold To Chicago-Based Real Estate Firm

The team that acquired it said they see tremendous opportunity for the shopping center.

WAYLAND, MA — A mixed-use shopping center in Wayland was sold to Chicago-based real estate firm Northpond Partners last month.

Wayland Town Center was sold by Zurich Insurance last month. The outdoor shopping center at 4 Elissa Ave is home to many businesses, including Stop and Shop, Sperry's Liquors, and Ace Hardware.

The new vision for the town center is brought forward through a partnership with Northpond Partners and two other real estate firms, Legacy Capital Ventures and Graffito SP.

Graffito SP is best known for its work on popular centers throughout the Bay State, including Kendall Square, Allston Landing and Boston Public Market.

"Under new ownership for the first time in over a decade, Wayland Town Center is being reimaged as a modernized retail and community destination," Graffito SP said in a statement.

The town center was previously sold to Zurich for $68 million, according to a 2015 report from the Worcester Business Journal.

Sam Ankin, co-founder and principal at Northpoond, said the team sees tremendous opportunity for the Wayland Town Center.

“We believe the center can play an even more meaningful role for residents, visitors, and local businesses, and we are excited to work collaboratively with town stakeholders on its next chapter," Ankin said.
