Marlborough Fire Department Gets Newly Minted Custom Badge

It incorporated many traditional features of badges dating back to the mid-1800s.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A new tradition for Marlborough firefighters began on Monday.

The Marlborough Fire Department distributed newly minted custom badges in a swearing-in event on Monday, according to a news release. The badges, designed by some of the department's members, incorporated many traditional features of badges dating back to the mid-1800s.

The fire department said that every member will be issued a badge number, which they will carry throughout their career.

On Monday, Chief Officers and Group 2 were issued their badges and sworn in by City Clerk Steve Kerrigan. The remaining groups will follow suit throughout the week.
