Marlborough Gets First Deputy Police Chief In City's History

Daniel Campbell has been a police officer in Marlborough for nearly 20 years.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — There was a historic promotion in the city at the Marlborough City Council on Monday night.

The Marlborough Police Department promoted Daniel Campbell as the city's first Deputy Police Chief. He has been a police officer in Marlborough for nearly 20 years, holds a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and has routinely volunteered for complex administrative duties within the department.

The creation of the position was supported by both Mayor J. Christian Dumais’ administration and members of the City Council.

"Deputy Chief Campbell is very well respected within the department, within our community, and with other law enforcement agencies," wrote the Marlborough Police Department in a news release. "Congratulations to Deputy Chief Campbell on earning this promotion and for serving the City of Marlborough with professionalism and pride."

Just last week, two Marlborough police lieutenants were promoted. Lieutenants Robert Jusseaume and Matthew Hassapes were promoted to Captains on Thursday, which marked the first time in over 20 years that the Marlborough Police Department elevated officers to the rank of captain.
