Age

Family

My grandparents on my fathers side were farmers who immigrated from Illinois to Sweden. My grandparents on my mother's side bounced around with the U.S. Navy. From those two families my mother and father pushed themselves academically and went to MIT where they met in the engineering department and rowed for the MIT crew. My parents held a fierce love for both academics and athletics. I graduated with honors from Drexel University and my sister holds an Olympic Gold Medal in rowing. My husband Harsha and I have a beautiful daughter together who loves Memorial Beach and every dog and cat she meets.

Why are you running for the Ward 7 Councilor position?

At the heart of everything is community, and Marlborough is a wonderful community. I have the knowledge and experience to bring this dream into reality and give our residents the community they need.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Public safety is the top concern. Reducing speeding and repairing roads is a top priority, especially with the new walk-to-school program. Improving public safety also includes a much-needed fourth fire station, continuing to reduce crime, and ensuring safe streets through our police force.

What sets you apart from other candidates seeking this position?

I have a vision for Marlborough as a city with public spaces, infrastructure, and businesses that serve our current and future population. I think huge progress has been made but I will be a representative that sees both the long term impact of each decision and the current needs of residents and delivers on both.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

My priorities include focusing on quality education for our children that builds them into the great citizens of tomorrow, ensuring that public spaces and parks can be enjoyed by all ages, and encouraging investment in businesses that are run by locals and that provide jobs to locals.

How does your experience prepare you for success in this position?

My experience across for-profit and nonprofit sectors, working with volunteers as well as directly with the State House, has given me the experience to know how to get things done through building trust and creating relationships. What else would you like voters to know about yourself?

I am committed to building and serving community in Marlborough. I want to build a city that works for all of us, together.
