MARLBOROUGH, MA — The municipal election is heating up in Marlborough, and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Born at Marlborough Hospital and moved to Marlborough in 1993 residing on Central St.

What is your occupation?

Employed by the Town of Sudbury in the Assessor's office as an analyst.

Have you previously or currently been elected to an office?

Currently serving my 6th term as City Councilor Ward 5

Why are you running for the Councilor at-large seat?

I am a strong believer that family and community is everything. I would like to be that conduit to resolve an issue and to be that voice to a concern and get results.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Infrastructure and roadway repair, having the city be affordable to live and retain city services. I will continue to support Capital Improvement Plans and continue to have a conservative approach to the city's finances. I will continue to work and support Marlborough Economic Development Corporation to bring and retain businesses in the city to help offset the tax base.

What sets you apart from other candidates seeking this position?

Experience and leadership, I chair the Finance committee, Vice-chair Public Service committee and voting member of Public Safety committee. Review the City's Operating Budget submitted by the Mayor with municipal department heads. I was a member of the Marlborough Public Library Building Committee, representing the city council. The committee worked with architects and Library Director to move forward and be prepared to apply for the grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The efforts was an amazing success. The Marlborough Public Library received the funding for its renovation and was able to expand the parking lot foot print.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Getting the west side fire station built.

How does your experience prepare you for success in this position?

Having over 20 years experience in municipal government helps to problem solve and to work with residents on property assessments, motor vehicle excise tax, statutory exemptions, disabled veterans, tax deferral and municipal finance.
