Marlborough School, Students Will Be Featured On CBS News

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A new private boarding school in Marlborough will make its network debut in December. The New England Innovation Academy opened in fall 2021 along Locke Drive, and will be featured in an upcoming episode of the CBS News series "America ByDesign."

New England Innovation Academy (www.neiacademy.org), will be featured in the December 10th episode of America ByDesign Season 3 on CBS News Streaming Network – the only school to appear on the show. America ByDesign tells the stories of companies and organizations across the US who have imagined, created, and brought to life the new and impossible, showcasing 25 of America’s most incredible, game-changing innovations. The show is a competitive format; judges choose an innovation from each episode as finalists, with one being selected as America’s top innovation of the season.

NEIA opened its doors in 2021 and has quickly gained recognition for its innovative, design-focused, and entrepreneurial curriculum, led by Head of Innovation and Trustee Matthew Kressy, who is also the founder of MIT’s Integrated Design & Management master’s program. Founded by a group of interdisciplinary educators, NEIA prepares students to shape the world through innovation, entrepreneurship and human-centered design.

“The very process used to design NEIA is the process that underpins the primary value proposition of our Innovation Studio: enabling all of our students to grow up and create experiences that are needed and meaningful to others,” said Kressy. “Our appearance on America ByDesign is an opportunity to demonstrate to the world the power of art and design, experiential learning, trial and error, and deep integration with academic subjects. We hope to inspire other schools to adopt these practices and help them make it a reality.”

NEIA emphasizes the Innovation Studio, which is an innovative human-centered product development curriculum with an immersive, project-based learning environment. Students work alongside leading-edge faculty and in hands-on partnerships with local businesses.

The curriculum is enhanced by real-world partners such as Babson College, the Rassias Center at Dartmouth College, Prestans Academy, and more than a dozen internship opportunities.”

Streaming of America ByDesign commences November 12th on the CBS News Streaming Network Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. local time. NEIA will appear on Episode 5 on December 10th and is the only school featured in the season.
