Mayor Asks Marlborough Residents to Consider City Board Openings
There are an array of openings in Marlborough's city boards, and the mayor is looking for residents to fill them.

is looking for a few good men and women to fill several openings on city boards and committees that serve important roles in the city’s operations and culture.
“We have many boards and commissions in our community that play an important role in enhancing the quality of life in our city as well as shaping its future,” Mayor Vigeant said. “We have a wealth of talent and knowledge in Marlborough and I encourage all citizens to consider becoming more involved in local government to help move us forward.”

Council on Aging
The Council on Aging promotes healthy, successful aging to enhance the quality of life for all of Marlborough's elder citizens. To that end, we strive to provide comprehensive services and programs for individuals age 60 or older AND their families.
Board of Assessors
The Assessor is responsible for meeting the certification requirements of the Department of Revenue. To meet these requirements, the assessors are obliged to revalue all properties yearly, and once every three years undergo a state recertification audit. In addition to certification duties, the Board also makes themselves available to assist homeowners and those who utilize public information such as appraisers, realtors, lawyers etc. Our overall mission is public service.

Board of Health (This appointment is limited to local residents who are practicing M.D.’s)
The Board of Health provides a broad scope of public health services to the community while enforcing the State Sanitary and Environmental Codes. These services include: policy development, issuance of permits and licenses, ongoing inspections and surveillance, and reporting of infectious and communicable diseases. In addition, the Board of Health provides information, referrals and mutual aid to surrounding communities.
Planning Board
The Planning Board of the City of Marlborough is a seven-member Board comprised of individuals appointed by the Mayor and the City Council. In the City of Marlborough, the Planning Board is primarily concerned with any subdivision of land. It is the Planning Board’s responsibility to insure that every subdivision of land either meets or exceeds the requirements of Massachusetts General Laws. The Board is also the special permit granting authority for any “Open Space” subdivision granted under the authority of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Marlborough. Additionally, the Board also reviews any requests for relief or variance from the City’s Sign Ordinance as well as the special permit granting authority for work on any of the City’s Scenic Roads.
Youth Commission
The purpose of the Marlborough Youth Commission is to enhance the quality of life for City youth through: an ongoing assessment of needs; evaluation of programs provided by the City, private sector and nonprofit organizations; recommendations to service providers regarding changes in programming designed to better meet the needs of the community
Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears testimony to grant relief from the city's zoning ordinances.
Recreation Commission
The Recreation Commission assists and advises the Recreation Department’s program needs for both passive and active leisure activities throughout the four-season calendar year. Program opportunities exist for residents and youth of all ages. The department’s goals are to deliver cultural, environmental, social, physical, and educational programs and to insure that these quality activities are offered in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
