Dear Councilor Brown,

It is my understanding that Lake Williams falls within the boundaries of Ward 4-1 which is part of the district you represent on the Marlborough City Council.

I have included with this letter a copy of a letter I sent to Mayor Dumais several months ago to which he has not responded. I have also included a copy of a Marlborough Patch article with some of my additional comments.

I want to go on record as strongly opposing the waste of taxpayer funds expended by the Arthur Vigeant administrative bureaucracy on the Lake Williams "Walk on Water" foot bridge project which was undertaken without adequate publicity that would have allowed the Citizens of Marlborough to object. The construction of a visually and environmentally polluting walkway over water has degraded at great cost an emergency water resource and it has arrogantly defiled the natural rustic charm and beauty of Lake Williams, a pastoral scene which had existed in its bucolic state for hundreds if not thousands of years as God and Mother Nature had created it.

As the people of Marlborough now walk over the "boardwalk," they undoubtedly are discarding trash and untoward substances into the water which at the very least could have been used in an emergency by the residents of Marlborough and especially Lake Williams' Ward 4 neighbors in the event of a MWRA water service cut off. The building of the walk way on Lake Williams has undermined the confidence the people have in the purity and cleanliness of the emergency water supply. This has also undermined the confidence that the people have in their government. It is an example of local and national government run wild.

The Federal Government which funded the project is $35 trillion in debt and it is increasing its debt by a trillion dollars every 90 days. This has resulted in significant increases in inflation causing many Citizens of Marlborough to be unable to afford food, rent or pay their utility bills. Rather than thanking Representative Lori Trahan for securing the funds from the taxpayers, Mayor Christian Dumais should have admonished her for spending the taxpayer's money in such an irresponsible way. Being responsible in the stewardship of public funds is the Christian thing to do because Jesus Christ was not a communist!

The City of Marlborough needs to reverse the ill-advised decision made by profligate spending liberal Mayor Arthur Vigeant and the Marlborough City Council to visually pollute the rural and rustic charm of Lake Williams. The City government needs to adopt the moral imperative embraced and espoused in the Hippocratic Oath to "do no harm" and to maintain the environmental integrity of Marlborough's backup emergency water supply which needs to be environmentally protected so that it will be kept fit for human consumption in case of an emergency.

Please remove the visually polluting scar that the City has erected across the beautiful face of formerly bucolic Lake Williams and reverse the City's negligent decision to environmentally degrade one of the People's backup emergency water supplies.

Utilize profligate federal government spending to undermine the cleanliness of a backup (emergency) water supply? This is what happens when we have too much government.

Why is the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection not fighting this misguided decision?

A better alternative would be to give the money back to the taxpayers who haven't seen a reduction in their property taxes even though they have been assaulted by a government (NIH) funded, manmade pandemic.

Lake Williams is a reserve water supply for Marlborough to be used in the event of an MWRA aqueduct emergency or some other water distribution disruption. Heaven forbid that the money for the foot path would ever be returned back to the taxpayers rather than be used to degrade a water resource which is supposed to be fit for human consumption.

Contrary to the concept of maturity in handling financial matters, scarce taxpayer resources are being used to push the envelope and go beyond normal limits in constructing what can be viewed by some of the more fiscally principled among us as an unnecessarily extravagant water borne walking path; a path running right through a potential emergency drinking water supply which should be environmentally protected.

Instead of installing a wasteful walkway over water, why not upgrade environmental protection of Lake Williams and the water handling capabilities of the underlying infrastructure?

Mass D.E.P. and the Marlborough City Council should stop the current environmental intrusion, they should make the City of Marlborough remove the floating boardwalk and it should return Lake Williams to the pristine condition which existed prior to its current environmental degradation as a reserve (emergency) public water supply.

ALTHOUGH THE MARLBOROUGH CITY COUNCIL APPROVED THE "DUMPWAY" INSTALLATION WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE USELESS MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND THE ALMOST AS USELESS MARLBOROUGH CITY "CONSERVATION" COMMISSION, SUCH APPROVAL COULD HAVE BEEN VETOED BY MAYOR ARTHUR VIGEANT, CPA WHO COULD HAVE PROVIDED THE NECESSARY FISCAL AND OTHERLY UN-PROVIDED CORRECCTIVE VISION BY VETOING THE PROJECT, ITS INJURIOUSLY DEFECTIVE BILL AND THE DEFECATORY PROJECT.
