Police Foil Robbery on Red Spring Road

The Marlborough Police Department arrested a Hudson man as he tried to make a getaway.

The caught one would be thief red-handed Monday afternoon as he tried to make his escape. 

Zachary J. Hurd, 33, of 12 Lake Boone Dr., Hudson, was arrested when police blocked SUV from leaving the dirt expanse of Red Spring Road. 

This was after a neighbor observed Hurd carrying items from 55 Red Spring Rd. to his car, then called the police.

"Officers stopped a car traveling at a high rate of speed, then observed a large Sony television in the back seat," said Detective Scott DeCiero. "We contacted the owner of the house and they confirmed that the individual did not have permission to be in the house."

Hurd was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, defacing property and larceny from a building.

The defacing charge stemmed from damage to a piano that occurred during the robbery. 

Hurd will face charges in Marlborough District Court Tuesday, Jan. 24.
