Rice Street Man Arrested for OUI, Child Endangerment

After witnessing a vehicle run a red light, a Marlborough police officer arrested an impaired driver who had a two year child in the vehicle.

Early Saturday morning arrested a Rice Street man after he ran a red light and failed a field sobriety test. 

Luis Fernando Maldonado, 34, of 72 Rice St., Apt. B, was pulled over after running a red light on Lincoln Street, said police. 

Officers observed that Maldonado was driving a motor vehicle in which there was an unsecured two-year-old child riding in the back seat between two adults.

"Maldonado was operating the vehicle with a Guatemalan license, which is not valid in Massachusetts," said Det. Scott DeCiero. "An officer then detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver and he failed a field sobriety test." 

Maldonado was charged with OUI liquor, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, transporting a child under five without a carseat, child endangerment while under the influence of liquor and a red light violation.

He was expected to be arraigned in on Monday morning.
