MARLBOROUGH, MA — The race to replace Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant got a little more crowded this week.

A third candidate — Gibbon Street resident Michael Baker — pulled papers to run for the seat. He joins City Councilors Christian Dumais and Samantha Perlman. Vigeant will conclude 30 years in office, including six terms as mayor, at the end of 2023.

The filing period to run for office opened on May 8 and will close Aug. 18. During that time, candidates can pull papers and collect signatures in order to get on the ballot for the Nov. 7 election (and an Oct. 10 preliminary, if one is necessary).
