There are some paths for walking, whether alone, with a friend or you could even bring your dog. It is a lengthy walk down the road to the beach, but you'll know you're getting close when you get to a wooden structure (see video). From there, keep going straight and up over the hill and you should see the beach. People can boat, fish, play with their dogs or go for a swim, a regular practice despite a "no swimming" sign.
Museum of Fine Arts
One of the ways the MFA engages its visitors is with an ever-changing array of special exhibits. Through Aug. 7, you can see Chihuly: Through the Looking Glass, a gorgeous display of glass artwork by renowned American artist Dale Chihuly. Among other current special exhibits is Violet Isle: A Photographic Portrait of Cuba by Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb, a husband and wife artistic duo, running through Jan. 16, 2012.
As with any museum of this size and scope, it’s impossible to see everything in one day. If you’re intent upon seeing specific pieces or collections, take a few minutes to pick up a map and plan your trip. If you’re looking for a general overview, you may also want to rent a multimedia guide with your ticket—an iPod Touch that guides you through 120 collection highlights and comes loaded with videos, images, and information about the museum. Or you may prefer to just wander and see where the art takes you.
