Fuel Spill in OB Harbor Leaves Bad Odor
A gasoline spill caused by ruptured pipe left bad odor last night

According to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, “Oak Bluffs firefighters, police and members of the harbormaster's department responded to a report of a gasoline spill in the harbor, at about 5 pm.”
Early reports said that the pipe that supplies a gas pump at the end of Church's Pier ruptured, and several gallons of fuel leaked into the water.
People eating at harbor restaurants were treated to a strong smell of gasoline, but the spill was cleaned up quickly enough that diners were not asked to leave the area. However, the Times reported that boaters were asked not to start their engines until the spill was cleaned.
