Martha's Vineyard Police Honor Fallen Officer
Martha's Vineyard police officers were among thousands who mourned slain Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — Martha's Vineyard police officers were among the hundreds of law enforcement officers from New England and beyond who attended the funeral of slain Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon Wednesday. Gannon, 32, was shot and killed last week in Barnstable while searching for a career criminal.
"Officer Gannon touched so many lives, this week we remember him, and grieve with family and friends," Edgartown police said in a statement. "Thousands of Officers were in attendance, which reminds all of us the connection every Officer has to each other."
Gannon's police dog "Nero" was also shot during the incident. The animal survived. Police said Thomas Latanowich, who has 125 criminal charges, shot Gannon and the dog as officers tried to arrest him for a probation violation.
