MBTA Transit Police said officers arrested Michael Garland in Boston.

BOSTON, MA — A Nantucket man was arrested Tuesday after stealing a 65-inch television at Boston's South Station, police said. Michael Garland, 31, was arrested by MBTA Transit Police officers at the commuter rail station at about 3 p.m. Earlier in the day, police said officers ejected him from the station for loitering.

Officers then saw him back in the station holding a 65-inch Samsung TV, police said.

"Officers approached Garland to ascertain why he was back in South Station," police said in a statement. "Investigation by the officers ... discovered Garland had helped himself to the television from the bus terminal area. (The TV was packaged and scheduled to be shipped to (its) rightful owner.)"
