• Old Rochester schools launch Playbook and Project 351 programs (southcoasttoday.com) — Old Rochester schools are expanding student leadership and equity training, and Mattapoisett eighth-grader Elliot Jacobsen has been chosen as one of three Project 351 Ambassadors from the district. Students from all five ORR schools are leading workshops, attending a Celtics-hosted summit, and joining statewide service and leadership activities inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of community.
   

• Fairhaven Officer Crawls Under Porch to Save Injured Kitten (wbsm.com) — Mattapoisett Animal Control teamed up with a Fairhaven police officer to save an injured kitten that had crawled under a porch after being hit by a car. Officer Patrick Claflin crawled beneath the porch, freed the terrified animal, and followed Mattapoisett officers to a local animal hospital, offering a hopeful ending and a reminder of everyday compassion on the SouthCoast.
