Grab Another Chance to Tour Medfield State Hospital Site

With development plans moving ahead, now is the time to join John Thompson for an informative MSH walking tour on Sunday, May 21.

Despite the drizzly weather, John Thompson (on building steps) led more than 40 attendees on an April 30 tour of the former Medfield State Hospital. The May 21 tour was set to accommodate previous weather-averse registrants, but is also open to newcomers.

As an extension of Medfield History Weekend 2023, another walking tour of the former Medfield State Hospital campus has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Sunday, May 21.

John Thompson, who manages the MSH buildings and grounds, will lead visitors on a two-hour walking tour to share information about the campus, including the history of various buildings, and the role the hospital played in the treatment of mental illness. The former Medfield State Hospital site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Advanced registration for the free tour is requested. Contact information allows tour coordinators to relay weather-related updates.
