Teen Charged With Attempted Murder For Monday Night Shooting: Canton Cops

The shooting left a woman in her 20s in serious condition.

CANTON, MA — A 16-year-old shot a woman in her 20s Monday, leaving her in serious condtion, police said.

The woman was shot at the Lamplighter Village apartment complex and remains at a Boston hospital, according to a media release from the Canton Police Department.

The teen was arrested after Canton police and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council SWAT executed a search warrant at his Canton home about 6 a.m. Tuesday, the release said.

The 16-year-old was charged with attempted murder, according to the release.

Interim Police Chief Joseph Perkins praised the officers involved in the case.

"I am pleased to report that thanks to the diligent police work of the Canton Police Department and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, we have made an arrest within 12 hours of the initial incident," Perkins said in the release.

"We thank the community for their patience and compliance with sheltering in place while our investigation was ongoing," he said.
