We all know someone who's making a difference in this difficult time. Let's help share these amazing stories!

MEDFIELD, MA — Amid the coronavirus outbreak, just going to work puts many people at risk. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
This submission comes from Denise Allen, of Medfield, who nominated her coworkers Jacinta Smith, of Medfield, and Amy Giroux, of Milford. Both women have worked in the medical field on the front line of the COVID-19 crisis, Smith as a nurse and Giroux as a social services director.

Jacinta Smith is a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing at a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metro-west. Another building riddled with COVID on the South Shore was in desperate need of Nursing Staff as the Staff and Residents were pretty much all sick with the Covid-19 virus.
Jacinta left her building, knowing she could not return for at a minimum of a months time. Jacinta also put her family at risk of contracting the virus, but rolled up her sleeves and jumped in so to speak with her boots on the ground and helped in any way possible.
She used her pristine management and nursing skills that she had acquired though her years of experience in her nursing position and was able to pull the facility through a very grim and heartbreaking situation. In doing so and through Staff education, Jacinta never became sick with the virus, and she herself is COVID free.
The building itself, residents and staff are on the mend. Jacinta Smith is a true selfless person and deserves recognition for her heartfelt desire and actions which played a distinct role in the fight against coronavirus.
Jacinta also recruited her social worker, Amy Giroux from Milford, Ma who decided that she too wanted to help out. Amy chose to have her children and her dog stay with family, so she could tend to the residents. Amy assisted Jacinta with patient care, dietary duties, housekeeping, and yes, social service work. Hats off to Jacinta and Amy for being true Hero's with a capital "H."
