Long List of Freebies for Veterans Today

There are many ways to celebrate Veterans' Day today. 

If you're thinking about a (free) meal or a little shopping (where you could get a discount), examiner.com suggests the following. It's a national list but many of these discounts can be found locally.

Free Meals at nationwide restaurants and freebies:

1. Applebee’s: Free meal from a special Veteran’s Day menu.
2. California Pizza Kitchen: Free pizza for dine-in only.
3. Denny’s: All you can eat pancakes from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.
4. TGIFridays: Free lunch for Veterans and active duty members from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
5. Bar Louie: Offers a free meal from up to $12 on November 10-11.
6. Carrabba’s: Free appetizer during the Veterans Day three-day weekend on November 9-11.
7. Better Way to Stay: Check this organization's website which will help you find a free place to stay this weekend for a getaway. Offer good November 10-11.
8. Krispy Kreme: Free doughnut and small coffee at participating locations.
9. Einstein Bros. Bagels/Noah’s New York Bagels: Free bagel with cream cheese (or another topping) from 5:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
10. Friendly’s: Free breakfast and coffee.
11. Champps Americana: Free burger and waffle fries.
12. Cheeseburger in Paradise: Free burger and fries with a purchase of a beverage.
13. Chili’s: Free meal from a special menu.
14. Golden Corral: Free dinner from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
15. Grace for Vets: Find a free carwash for veterans with this website.
16. Great Clips: Free haircut.
17. Little Caesar’s: Free crazy bread.
18. Max & Erma’s: Free cheeseburger combo meal.
19. Longhorn Steakhouse: Free Texas “Tonion” appetizer and non –alcoholic beverage during Veterans Day week, November 11-14.
20. Tim Horton’s: Free doughnut.
21. Hooter’s: Get a free meal with the purchase of any drink.
22. National Parks Service: Free admission to all National Parks for everyone, November 9-11, in honor of Veterans Day.
23. O’Charley’s: Free meal for veterans and active duty service members from the $9.99er menu.
24. On the Border: Free dinner from the “Make Your Own Combo Meal.”
25. McCormick and Schmick’s: Free meal on Sunday, November 10 only. Reservations are requested.
26. Olive Garden: Free meal from the Veterans Day menu. Anyone with you gets 10% off their bill.
27. Texas Roadhouse: Free lunch.
28. Sizzler: Free lunch.
29. Shoney’s: Free burger.
30. Max & Erma’s: Free cheeseburger combo meal.
31. Outback Steakhouse: Free bloomin’ onion and beverage.
32. Red Robin: Free burger and fries.
33. Red Lobster: Free appetizer November 11-14.
34. Bob Evans: Free all-you-can-eat hotcakes at its restaurants on Monday Veterans Day.

40.Lone Star Steakhouse: Veterans can come to dinner with a friend and get a buy one get one free dinner. ID or proof of service required.

41.Orange Leaf at the Banks: 2 free ounces of froyo with additional purchase. You must have a military ID.

42. Boston Market: Free whole chicken with the purchase of a family meal on Monday, Veterans Day.

43. Fatz Eatz and Drinkz : Free entrée up to a $15 value. No purchase required! Also, each veteran will receive a $2 coupon for use on his or her next visit.

44. Fox & Hound Tavern: A free burger on Veterans Day 2013.

45. Hoss’s Family Steak & Sea House: Free Meal on Monday November 11th from 11 AM to 9 PM from a select menu.

46. Menchie’s Free Frozen Yogurt: A free 6 oz. frozen yogurt on Monday. Show a valid ID or be in uniform to receive.

47. Paciugo Gelato Caffe: A free 12 oz Gelatte on Monday, November 11, 2013.

48. Sam’s Club is offering veterans free Hugo canes all weekend through Monday Nov. 11. This offer is for all veterans and active service members who are in need of assistance getting around

49. All 100 national parks across the county offer free admission on Veterans Day Monday Nov. 11, 2013.

50. The Pro Football Hall of Fame, Anheuser-Busch Parks and Colonial Williamsburg also offer free admission on Monday. (Offer excludes Discovery Cove, Aquatic at Anheuser-Busch and Christmas Town at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.)

Store discounts for Veterans Day 2013:

*Big Lots, Dollar General and The Buckle: These stores offer 10% discount on Veterans Day.
*Kmart: Offers the coupon code VETERANSDAY for an extra 5% to 10% off purchases on Monday.
*Sports Authority: Offers 15% off all purchases for Veterans Day.
*JC Penny’s: Offers a 20 % in-store discount all weekend through Monday Nov. 11. (Print the JC Penny coupon online.)
