Troop 89 Honors Two New Eagle Scouts: Daniel Kemp and Benjamin Simonini
Boy Scout Troop 89 proudly announced the elevation of Daniel Kemp and Benjamin “Ben” Simonini to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting. Fewer than 6% of Scouts earn this distinction, which requires earning a minimum of 21 merit badges, demonstrating leadership within the troop, completing an extensive service project that benefits the community, and successfully completing an Eagle Board of Review. Daniel and Ben fulfilled and exceeded these
requirements, each demonstrating exceptional commitment, and service throughout their Scouting journeys.
Daniel joined Troop 89 in 2019 at age 11 after crossing over from Webelos Pack 200, where he earned
the Arrow of Light Award. Over the past six years, he earned 30 merit badges, completed Junior Leadership Training, and served in multiple leadership roles including Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Webmaster. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow and participated in more than 35 camping trips, including a high-adventure trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Daniel partnered with the Medfield Food Cupboard to design, build, and paint a large wooden storage cabinet to fill unused space and provide secure storage
for overflow food donations. He also organized and ran a food drive, collecting high-demand items, storing them at home, and ultimately transporting and stocking them in the newly installed cabinet. His project provided both a lasting logistical solution and immediate support to local families. Daniel completed his Eagle Board of Review on July 24, 2025.

Outside of Scouting, Daniel is a senior at Medfield High School, where he competes on the winter and spring track and field teams, plays cello in the String Orchestra, and participates in Model UN and DECA. He is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Latin Honor Society, earned a gold medal on the National Latin Exam, and ranks in the top 10% of his class. In his free time, he enjoys
boating, fishing, biking, and writing Google reviews.
Ben joined Troop 89 in 2021 at age 10 after crossing over from Webelos Pack 113, where he also earned the Arrow of Light Award. On his trail to Eagle, he earned 26 merit badges, completed Junior Leadership Training, and served in leadership roles including Assistant Senior Patrol Leader,
Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Den Chief for his former Cub Scout pack. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and has participated in 18 camping trips, including the National High Adventure Sea Base sailing trip to St. Thomas this past summer.

Ben’s Eagle Scout Service Project involved designing and constructing a 10x10 storage shed on the grounds of St. Edward Parish in Medfield. The shed provides storage space for numerous community groups served by the parish. Ben led 26 Scouts and adults in building the structure and raised nearly $3,000 to fully fund the project. He completed his Eagle Board of Review on June 23, 2025.
At Medfield High School, Ben is a sophomore and a multi-sport athlete on both the soccer and track teams. He participates in DECA, the Investment Club, and the Fishing Club, and plays basketball in both CYO and club leagues. He is the recipient of the Troop 89 Scoutmaster Award and a DECA district award. Beyond school and Scouting, Ben enjoys snowboarding, go-kart racing, refereeing youth soccer, and working at Brother’s Marketplace in town.
Troop 89 congratulates Daniel and Ben on their outstanding accomplishments and thanks them for their service, leadership, and contributions to the Medfield community. Their achievements exemplify the values of Scouting and set a powerful example for future generations of Scouts.
