Lowell Mason House Fundraiser Underway
The Lowell Mason House foundation seeks funds to restore and preserve the birthplace of the founder of music in public education.
The annual Lowell Mason House fundraiser is underway.
This week you may have received a letter or postcard in your mailbox asking for help in preserving the Medfield birthplace of Lowell Mason (1792-1872) who is known for introducing music education into American public schools.
The house was saved from demolition almost three years ago and was moved from Adams Street to its current Green Street location (next to Hinkley Park) in April 2011.
The building has a new concrete foundation and is ready to be lowered onto it before the snow falls. Funds are needed to continue the restoration and preservation of the property.
Patch recently had a tour of the building with Lowell Mason Foundation board member Thomas Scotti, and took these photos.
There are several donor levels to help in the preservation of the building including:
- Friend ($25-$49) Receive a Lowell Mason poster designed by Barbara Bose of Bose Arts
- Supporter ($50-$99) Receive a Lowell Mason Discout Card for use at over 50 area businesses
- Patron ($100-$499) Receive both poster and card
- Benefactor ($500 and above) Receive a framed reproduction of a piece of manuscript signed by Lowell Mason
Donations can be made on-line at www.lowellmasonhouse.org or can be mailed to The Lowell Mason Foundation, PO Box 913, Medfield, MA 02052.
