Medfield Boy Scout Troop 89 will pick up this year's Christmas Trees

Medfield Boy Scout Troop 89 is pleased to announce it will pick up Christmas Trees after the holiday on Sunday, January 4th and Sunday, January 11th.

Not only will Troop 89 pick up Christmas Trees, but it will also take away wreaths and other greenery. It is the Troop's 30th year of providing this service. Medfield residents will have a choice of where our scouts donate their trees.

Trees purchased from Lovells, Medfield Lions, Bubbling Brook Nursery, Hope Still, Volante Farms, and Dover Legion can be donated to Unity Farm Sanctuary in Sherborn, MA. Unity Farm Sanctuary provides lifetime care for a population of ill, disabled, senior, orphaned, or otherwise surrendered farmed animals and humanitarian education programs. Trees donated to Unity Farm Sanctuary are used as a special treat for many of the animals. If you have a tree that is eligible to be donated to Unity Farm, and you would like to elect to have it donated to the farm please be sure to sign up for Unity Farm pick-up when you register.

Trees not eligible for Unity farm or marked for general pick up will be taken to the Medfield Transfer station or brought to some local wooded areas, per land owner request, that wild animals will use as habitats. "Picking up Christmas trees has become a beloved tradition for Troop 89 and the community," said Mike Jones, Scoutmaster of Troop 89. "Last year, we collected over 730 trees. We are excited to continue this tradition of service, supporting both our community and local wildlife."

The suggested donations are -- $23 for a large tree, one over 10 feet tall, $18 for a tree under 10 feet tall, and $6 for wreaths. The suggested donation for trees headed to Unity Farm Sanctuary is $25.

This fundraiser helps fund many of Troop 89's activities for the year. "Community service is at the heart of scouting, and Troop 89 takes great pride in giving back to Medfield," said Scoutmaster Jones. "Your donations not only support our efforts to serve the community but also help keep scouting affordable for all. With rising costs, fundraising like this ensures we can provide financial assistance to scouts who need it and offer enriching experiences for all our scouts."
