This coming winter, Medfield will be host to the 2015 Miss Amazing Pageant, organizers of the event announced this week.

The pageant, which also took place in Medfield last December, is part of the nonprofit Miss Amazing, Inc. that was founded in 2007 and takes place in more than 30 states each year. This year’s pageant will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Medfield High School.

Miss Amazing focuses on “the abilities of girls with disabilities in a safe and supportive environment,” and the one-day pageant includes interviews, evening wear, talents and other features.

Participants are paired with one “buddy” who supports and encourages the participant through the event. The girls receive free hair and makeup, a free dress and a goody bag.

There is no entry fee to participate, and those who do are encouraged to donate five cans of food, which will be donated to local charities along with a portion of proceeds from ticket sales. Last year, all participating states donated more than 3,000 pounds of food and $7,500 to charities across the United States, organizers said.

Those who are interested in participating as a buddy, contestant or “right-hand” volunteer should sign up soon, organizers said, as slots fill up quickly.
