Medfield History Weekend to feature cake for Derby's 200th birthday

George Horatio Derby's 200th birthday will be celebrated with a cake at the Dwight-Derby House on April 29

During the weekend of April 28 to April 30, visitors will be welcome at various historic sites around Medfield, including the Kingsbury Grist Mill.

“Come walk the grounds of John Dwight, one of the original 13 settlers of Medfield, and visit the house that was a home to families for more than 300 years,” says Laurel Scotti, President of The Friends of the Dwight-Derby House, noting that George Horatio Derby’s 200th birthday will be celebrated with the cutting of a birthday cake at noon.

Over the weekend, other sites and attractions will welcome visitors including the Kingsbury Pond Grist Mill, Lowell Mason House, Medfield Historical Society, Medfield State Hospital, Peak House, and the Town Clock/Steeple at the First Parish Church (sold out).

There will also be a Hannah Adams Exhibit at the Medfield Public Library, walking tours with Town Historian Richard DeSorgher (Saturday), trolley tours with Joe Opiela or Jerry Potts (Sunday), a conversation and book signing with DeSorgher (Saturday), and a children's scavenger hunt (all days).

Tickets are still available for many of the weekend attractions including the downtown walking tours, Old Town trolley tours, the former Medfield State Hospital walking tour, and the Kingsbury Pond Grist Mill.
