Medfield Officials Declare Oct. 9 as 'Arbor Day'

Selectmen will read a proclamation on Thursday morning.

The Medfield Board of Selectmen will read a proclamation this Thursday, Oct. 9, declaring the date as “Arbor Day” in Medfield.

As part of the proclamation, officials will dedicate new street trees planted outside of Brothers Marketplace, and will participate in a ceremonial shoveling of dirt and planting a Ginkgo tree.

The proclamation will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday at 446 Main St. at 9 a.m.

This year will be the town’s second annual Arbor Day declaration and is being done in alignment with the expectations of of the “Tree City USA” Program, which was created by the National Arbor Day Foundation to commend the efforts of tree preservation in communities across the country.
