MHS Boys Lacrosse Takes Eastern Mass Sectional Finals with 11-10 Win in Overtime

Medfield defeats Hingham and advances to the MIAA Division 2 State Championship game to face undefeated Longmeadow (24-0) in Worcester on Friday night.

The following report was provided by MHS Boys Lacrosse Coach John Isaf regarding the team's June 12, 2013, game against Hingham. 

Number 2 seed Medfield (22-3) advanced to the MIAA Division 2 State Championship game Friday at Foley Stadium in Worcester with an 11-10 overtime win over #1 seed Hingham (21-4) in the EMass Championship game at Harvard Stadium on Wednesday night. 

Medfield is now 4-0 in EMass Championship games at Harvard Stadium, having played in 4 of the 6 games there.

Senior attackman Andrew Melvin led the offense with 3 goals including the game winner in OT. Junior midfielder Matt Crowell scored 2 goals and Freshman midfielder John MacLean scored 2 goals and dished out 1 assist. Junior midfielder Matt Cahill scored 1 goal and 1 assist and Junior attackman Jack Isaf, Senior Midfielder Matt Ruzzo and Freshman attackman Matt Treiber each scored goals.  

The defense was led by Senior defenseman Ben Cox who secured 5 ground balls and dished out 1 assist and Junior long stick midfielder Blake Frasca who grabbed 8 ground balls and held Hingham's top midfield threat Caleb Brodie to 1 goal.

Junior face off specialist Brian Bissell won 15 of 24 faceoffs. 

Junior goalie Robert Trieber was excellent in the cage making 11 saves. 

Medfield advances to the MIAA Division 2 State Championship game and will face undefeated Longmeadow (24-0) at Foley Stadium in Worcester on Friday night.
