On Saturday, March 16 around 10:15 p.m., two Medfield police officers -- Wayne Sallale and Eric Pellegrini -- arrived at a Homestead Drive house where they saw multiple interior lights on and a car in the driveway.

As both police officers approached the front door of the residence, Pellegrini saw multiple youths in the basement of the residence. Sallale immediately responded to the rear of the house.

As Pellegrini knocked on the front door, five youths -- two males and three females -- attempted to flee through the back door and porch, but Sallale stopped all of them. He had them enter the kitchen area; there, Pellegrini (who had entered the house through the front door) joined them.

"Upon interviewing the youths, they all stated that the owner's son told them they could come over and use the house because the parents were not going to be home," says the report filed by Sallale.

The five teens said they attended private school with the owner's son.

While Pellegrini stayed with the kids, Sallale searched the basement where they were first seen. There, the report says he found...

...multiple open Bud Light beer cans. The cans were cold to the touch. [Sallale] also observed visible smoke in the bathroom and an exhaust fan running. The bathroom had a strong odor of burnt marijuana eminating from it.

At first the youths said the beer was not theirs, then they admitted it was. They also said they had smoked marijuana in the bathroom.

Police asked the youths to call their parents to pick them up. Police also told them that, after further investigation, charges could be filed.

Medfield Police Sgt. John Mayer arrived at the scene, and a search of the entire residence was conducted to make sure that no other people were in the house.

As police were waiting for the parents to arrive, the homeowner's sister-in-law arrived on the scene.

All three females were picked up by their mothers whom police informed of the continuing investigation and possible charges. The males were also released.

Sallale toured the house with the sister-in-law who called the homeowner and informed him of the circumstances. The owner then spoke with Sallale on the phone and told him the two males are known to him and that they are friends with his son. The man said he would contact his son to see if he gave them permission to use the residence.

The investigation is ongoing.
