Medfield Celebrated Arbor Day at Vine Lake Cemetery

The Town of Medfield Celebrated its annual "Tree City" Arbor Day Celebration at Vine Lake Cemetery last week.

A Sourwood Tree was planted this year near the Vine Lake Cemetery Dale Street entrance. Sourwood leaves are green during the growing season, but turn a vibrant red, orange and purple in the fall. The tree planted in Medfield on Arbor Day had magnificent red leaves .

Sourwood leaves, when crushed, have a distinct sour smell and taste, and are sometimes called lily of the valley tree leaves.
