Tufts presents “The ThreePenny Opera”: Bertolt Brecht’s and Kurt Weill’s musical masterpiece “The Threepenny Opera” runs this weekend at Tufts. Let the music--including the show’s smash hit "Mac the Knife"—lead you into the seedy, mesmerizing underworld of Weimar Republic Berlin. And no worries, it’s not a classical opera. You’ll leave humming every catchy tune. Show times are Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. this week only. Tickets are just “a few pennies” as well: $10 general or $5 for Tufts students. Details .

Sign Up for ArtBeat 2011: Craft vendors and performers can start signing up now to take part in this hugely popular midsummer arts festival. This year’s fest takes place July 15 and 16 and the theme is Red. “The hue is many things: hot, passionate and life sustaining—and we think, an apt theme for a hot summer festival,” states the Somerville Arts Council’s announcement. Craft vendor applications are due March 28. Artist applications are due April 1. Community vendor applications are coming soon. More info here.
