Learn about the Black Bicyclists of Boston: Beacon Hill was a hub of black bicyclists in the 1890s, many with connections to Medford. Join Lecturer Lorenz Finison as he talks about these early cyclists at 7 p.m. at the library. His talk will include Robert Teamoh and Kitty Knox who challenged the League of American Wheelmen’s “color bar”, Mary Sargent Hopkins, tricyclist and later publisher of The Wheelwoman, the Riverside Cycling Club, an all-black club formed in 1893.

NYU Prof Talks India at Tufts: Imperial India: Empire and Globalization in the Longue Duree, a presentation by NYU history professor David Ludden takes place at Mugar Hall at 5:30 p.m.

Need to Relax? Meditate at the Library: Join the weekly meditation group at 10 a.m. The group will do a warm-up/self-care technique to relax and release tension, and a meditation and mindfulness exercise. The basics of meditation will also be explained. Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing. People are invited to come to an individual class or to attend every week to enhance and deepen the effects of meditation.
