Bank Robbed, Suspect Shot in Everett

It's unclear whether Thursday's Everett incident is connected to the recent string of robberies north of Boston.

The suspect in a bank robbery in Everett was apparently shot this afternoon, according to police radio transmissions.

Century Bank in Everett was robbed just after 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Officers shot one of the two suspects at the scene, according to the police radio. Two men matching the description of the bank robbery suspects were then arrested in Saugus later in the afternoon, according to radio reports.

Everett police said over the radio that two men robbed the Revere Beach Parkway bank. They then ran across the road to a waiting car in a Wendy’s parking lot, according to a witness inside the restaurant who declined to give her name. At that point, shots were fired, although the witness was not sure whether both police and the suspects were shooting. Police cordoned off a part of the Wendy’s drive-through, where broken glass was scattered on the pavement.

Police then issued a BOLO (“Be on the Look Out”) request to area police departments, asking them specifically to check area hospitals for an injured white male. Radio reports said the suspects were driving a blue GMC vehicle.

There were no reported injuries at the bank or inside the Wendy’s. It’s unclear at this point whether the Everett robbery is tied in any way to the in Malden, Reading, Lynnfield, Salem, Burlington and Westford.  The FBI now believe those robberies were committed by the same group of individuals.
