Bloomberg Schools Gift Accepted
New York City mayor gave $50K to his hometown school district.

According to a statement posted on the school website, Medford Public Schools has accepted a grant of $50,000 from Bloomberg Philanthropies on behalf of New York City mayor and Medford High graduate Michael Bloomberg.

We are pleased to report that Bloomberg Philanthropies has awarded Medford High School a grant of $50,000 to supplement our $3.3 million Technology Initiative. The very generous gift by Michael R. Bloomberg,Medford High School Class of 1960, is in memory of his mother, Charlotte R. Bloomberg, a beloved and distinguished member of the Medford community.

The funding request was initiated by Technology Director Richard Trotta. The funding will be used to set up a state of the art technology center in a dedicated room of the library resource center. Included in the center will be computer workstations, an interactive projector with white board, document cameras, mobile devices, network printers, and access to the internet through our wireless network.
The center will encourage project-based, interdisciplinary learning. The center will enable teachers and students to develop projects that foster 21st century skills and attitudes.
