High E. Coli Levels Close Wright's Pond In Medford

The Board of Health has closed the pond to swimming due to fluctuating E. Coli levels over the past few days.

MEDFORD, MA — The Board of Health has closed Wright's Pond due to inconsistent E. Coli readings. The readings have fluctuated between high and low over the past few days, leading health officials to close the pond to swimming until Saturday, Aug. 15.

A credit will be added to households for the missed swim.

On Thursday, the Recreation Department said the Board of Health reported that one of two water samples had E. Coli levels above the acceptable range for swimming. A second sample taken later that day came back with acceptable levels, but health officials decided to keep the pond closed.
