Slow Going: Snow and Rain Makes for Messy Roads

Thick flakes fell Tuesday afternoon

Forecasters predict 3 to 7 inches of snow accumulation Tuesday afternoon, followed by rain and possibly freezing rain Tuesday night.

Thick snowflakes fell in the Medford area this afternoon, as many roads were messy. The Alewife Brook Parkway was in especially tough shape, according to police radio reports.

National Weather Service forecasts predict anywhere from 3 to 7 inches of snow accumulation this afternoon, followed by as much as three quarter an inch of rain, or freezing rain, tonight. A wintry mix is expected Wednesday morning, likely making for a difficult commute.
