UPDATED: Revere Beach Explodes Into Pandemonium on Mother's Day

Nine people were arrested for disorderly conduct.

A small conflict - possibly surrounding a stolen handbag - snowballed into a crazy clustermuck of a fight on Revere Beach Sunday afternoon.

State Police say nine individuals, eight of which are juveniles, were arrested and are accused of disorderly conduct, in addition to other charges. Five of those arrested are female, and four are male.

WBZ Channel 4 reports the lone adult of the nine arrested, Cornelius Jackson, 24, of Boston, says he was in the “wrong place at the wrong time,” and denies the charges against him, which include resisting arrest and misidentifying himself to officers. He also told the source police became more aggressive toward the crowd after they “found something.”

According to WHDH Channel 7, as many as 100 individuals were involved in varying degrees of mayhem during the quarrel, including throwing bottles at police. Dozens of officers were called in to contain the chaos.

“It just kept building and building, [with] more people getting upset about their friends being taken into custody,” witness Tyler Wade told the source.
