UPDATE: Three New Elementary Principals and Curriculum Director Named
Jenny Corduck, the EEC director, will become the new principal of the Hoover Elementary School; Grace Basile is the new Roosevelt principal; Mary Ellen Carideo is the new Horace Mann Principal; and Dr. Margaret Adams is the new curriculum director.

The , and each have new principals in place for next year and Melrose Public Schools have a new curriculum director, according to notices sent out to parents today from Superintendent Joe Casey and a blog post by Mayor Rob Dolan.
Director Jenny Corduck will be taking on a new challenge in Melrose, as next year she will take over as principal at the Hoover School.

Grace Basile will become the new principal at the Roosevelt School. Since September 2010, she has served as the interim assistant principal of Shaughnessy Elementary School in Lowell.
On his blog, Dolan said that Dr. Mary Ellen Carideo will become the new principal at Horace Mann School. Carideo is currently the assistant principal of the Eugene Wright Science and Technology Academy in Chelsea.

Also, Casey announced the hiring of Dr. Margaret Adams as the new Melrose Public Schools curriculum director. Adams has been the Director of Literacy, Language, and Title I/III programs for Malden Public Schools since 2006. .
An email from Mayor Rob Dolan's office sent on Thursday afternoon called a press conference for Monday morning to meet the new principals of the Hoover, Horace Mann and Roosevelt schools and the newly hired curriculum director. The notices from Casey, provided to Melrose Patch, said that on Monday the school district will announce times to meet the new principals and day and times for the ECC community to discuss the next steps for the center.
On Corduck's move to the Hoover School, Casey wrote, "Over the last several years Jenny has been a leader for your community and now she is taken (sic) the next step in her life’s journey."
Corduck takes over for Dr. Dennet Sidell, who is leaving to become .
Casey wrote that Basile is "an educational leader with a solid understanding of instruction, assessment and how to work with staff to help all students succeed."
Basile has a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University and a master's in education from University of Massachusetts-Lowell. She has also done postgraduate work at Fitchburg State College. Her experience, Casey wrote, also includes three years as a math coach and three years as curriculum facilitator in the Lowell Public Schools.
She takes over for Kerry Clery, who is .
Dolan wrote that Cardieo was previously a teacher and administrator in Boston Public Schools, and holds a doctorate of education from University of Massachusetts-Boston and has taught classes at both UMass-Boston and Emmanuel College.

In Malden, Casey wrote, Adams has overseen reading and writing initiatives and the implementation of a new core reading program for grades K-5.
Prior to working in Malden, Adams was the department head for Bilingual and ESL Services for Brockton Public Schools; previously served as acting and
assistant principal for schools in Boston and Marlborough; and was a classroom teacher in Framingham. She holds doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a master's of education in special education from Lesley College, and a master's of education in administration, planning, and social policy from Harvard.
Adams takes over for current Curriculum Director Pat Muxie, who is retiring as of July 1.
