The Beebe Gallery's featured artists for April are photographer David Sokol and painter Jacqueline Sokol.
David Sokol began pursuing his love of photography in 1998 when he attended White Pines College in Chester, NH. He graduated in 2000 with an Associate of Arts degree in Photography. Shortly after graduating college he started his photojournalism career freelancing for local papers including the Wakefield Daily Item and the Daily Times Chronicle. In 2004 David accepted a full-time photojournalist position with Community Newspaper Company. He is responsible for working with reporters and editors helping to cover for twenty weekly publications covering a large portion of eastern Massachusetts. He also gathers and edits audio and video for web publication.
David Sokol is a member of the National Press Photographers Association and the Boston Press Photographers Association. Over the years he has won numerous awards ranging from internal company contests to National Press Photography monthly clip contests, New England Press Association yearly contests to best photojournalism in the Suburban Newspapers of America yearly contest. In 2011 he was nominated for Photographer of the Year. He is continuously inspired to create unique and interesting heart felt moments and searches for new exciting ideas to improve his photojournalism career and passion for nature photography.

Jacqueline Sokol is a passionate artist interested in making art a career. Jacqueline went to school at University of Massachusetts, Boston with a major in both nursing and art. “She pursues her dual interest in nursing and art with equal dedication, and is actually able to demonstrate through her paintings a truthful and natural interest in the lives of others. Her paintings are populated by images of people, old and young, male and female, relatives and strangers, all approached with great curiosity, respect and no small amount of love.” Wilfredo Chiesa.
