What better way to highlight the various talents of Melrose High School students than through a talent showcase? Add to that, a performance by an award winning collegiate a cappella group.
On Thursday, Feb. 16, the MHS Junior Class government will present, “Have You Got Talent?,” an evening featuring the many talents of the students who attend Melrose High School. The performance begins at 7 p.m., in the 900-seat Performing Arts Center, 350 Lynn Fells Parkway.

The best performers will be decided by a popular vote and by a judges’ pick. Through an audience polling system, audience members can text-to-vote for their favorite act, just like on TV’s American Idol, and You’ve Got Talent. A panel of professional musicians will serve as judges, with prizes awarded to the winners.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the showcase will introduce a wide variety of entertainers. Singers, dancers, musicians and comedians alike will make appearances on stage. Impressive acts range from an established High School band, solo and ensemble musicians, to a break-dance performance.

Special Guests the Harvard University Opportunes will round out the evening’s show. The Opportunes have won widespread acclaim for their intricate six-to-eight-part harmonies, as well as for their stage presence and sense of humor. They have been featured on NBC’s Today Show, and have performed internationally, including appearances with Quincy Jones, and Adam Sandler in Radio City Music Hall. The Opportunes have been recipients of multiple awards for their recordings from the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America.
Tickets will be sold at the door: $7 for adults; $5 for students, children and seniors. “Have You Got Talent?” organizers and performers welcome the entire Melrose community to the show. “Have You Got Talent?” is a guaranteed night of entertainment.
The Melrose High School Junior Class Officers would like to thank local, Melrose organizations and businesses for their generous sponsorship and support.
