Junior Police Academy Returns to Melrose Summer of 2015
The four-day program is designed to give youngsters a sampling of life on "the force."

Not every pre-adolescent hopes to be a police officer when they grow up.
But for the Melrose 10- 13-year-olds who are considering a career in law enforcement, the department is offering a “Junior Police Academy,” this summer.
The pair of sessions take place from July 6 to July 10, and July 13 to 17 at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School.

Activities designed to give youngsters an idea of what a cop’s life is like include physical training, calisthenics, running, and games structured to build focus, speed, and teamwork.
As far as the more academic-leaning aspect of the program go, junior cadets will be instructed by Melrose Police officers and members of the Melrose Alliance Against Violence about patrol procedures, traffic, bullying, drugs, and cyber safety.
